📖 Words explained
- Measure
- A flat board or mat with a raised end (the stop). The fish's nose touches the stop and you read the length at the tail.
- Log a catch
- Record a fish in the app: photo, fish type and length.
- Witness
- Another angler who checks your photo and agrees the length and fish type are right.
- Steward
- A match official, like a referee, who checks catches and settles arguments.
- Organiser
- The person who set up the match. They have the final say.
- Dispute
- Saying "I'm not sure this is right" so a steward looks again at the photo.
- Offline / no signal
- Your phone has no mobile signal. MatchCast keeps your catch safe and sends it when signal comes back.
- Sync
- When the app sends saved catches once you have signal again. It happens by itself.
- Species
- The type of fish, for example Bass, Cod or Plaice.
- Species Hunt
- A competition across the year where you score 1 point for each different type of fish you catch.
- Join code
- A short code the organiser shares so you can join their match or hunt.
